Lives and works in Prague

Roman Trabura is one of a kind. He is of the right age to be part of the Tvrdohlaví group, but he did not study at the Academy of Fine Arts until after the Velvet Revolution, and he did not join any group. More a solitary walker than a solitary runner. But a walker with a capital ‘W’…

He creates layers of detail, and analyzing them is a work of archeology…

Roman Trabura’s paintings are inverse Romanticism…

His esprit, at the core of his work, has the freshness of the burdened mature spirit of the beginning and the end of a millennium, and the soul of a true-believing ironicist and a hopeful sceptic who, because he is an adult, also admits his desire for harmony…

Trabura’s heavy, descending clouds of threat hang above the landscape like the ever-present feeling of existence on the very edge of catastrophe, with the paradoxes and vanity of today’s world…

IMRESSIONS OF THE LAST SYMPOSIUM?

Very positive in all ways – good people, no stress, absolutely fine. I’d certainly go again.
